Our little dead end road in Connecticut was tied between two lengthy parallel roads… former sheepherder trails. Both Cat Rock Road and Cognewaugh Road were home to two ancient little cemeteries, and I’d often drop in walking home from the school bus stop to see what I could find. Which stone was the earliest?! Could I make out one that was almost illegible? I loved those little cemeteries! So does this author in a piece in the New York Times. He had a great one right in his backyard!
